Project Overview

Morongo needed a logo for a new high-end cocktail bar on their casino floor. The architecture was a modern interpretation of art deco, and they wanted the logo to feature a similar aesthetic.

Challenges

I was tasked with creating a logo that reflected cocktails, art deco themes, and played on the venue name. Some of the key words they provided for the customer experience were luxury, black tie, and craft cocktails. I created illustrations for the logo and sourced an appropriate typeface.

Solution

I started by researching art deco patterns and wallpaper and quickly fell in love with several geometric patterns. These patterns worked as a great starting point to evoke the shapes of hearts and crystal (both of the stemware and natural varieties). From there, I created several logo icons and then two full logos with type treatments. The logo that Morongo ultimately picked reads well as a brand even when divided up into just the type treatment or the icon. I modified an existing typeface to create the “CH” initials found in the logo and name.
